The more readers an author has following them or their books on BookBub, the more effective their BookBub promotions can be. That’s because:
- Whenever an author launches a new book, their followers receive a New Release Alert — a dedicated (free!) email promoting the new book.
- Whenever an author runs a BookBub Featured Deal, their followers and any readers who’ve “wishlisted” the book receive a deal alert.
To help authors get more BookBub follows and wishlists, we’ve created buttons and icon sets for use on their websites. We’ve also included instructions for how to use them, and examples of BookBub icons in action on some authors’ websites!

Follow Buttons
These “follow” or “follow me” buttons can be added to a website’s sidebar, header, or wherever it best fits into the site’s design. The button should link to the author’s BookBub Author Profile. Readers who click through can automatically follow you if you add the ?follow=true query string to the URL (instructions below).
Wishlist Buttons
These “wishlist” buttons can be added to a website’s homepage or books page to encourage visitors to add a book to their Wishlist on BookBub. The button should link to a specific book page on BookBub.
Social Media Icon Sets
In addition to linking to each of their social media profiles, authors can also include an icon linking to their BookBub Author Profile! We created sets of icons for BookBub and the most popular social media channels so that all the icons you use have a consistent look and feel. Click the name of the icon set to download a zip folder of all the icon files in that style!

How to Add a Button to a Website
While we can’t provide instructions for every website platform available, here are basic instructions for adding a button using a bit of HTML code.
Step 1: Download any of the images above.
- If downloading a button, right-click the specific image above and click “Save As…”.
- If downloading an icon set, download the zip folder and extract the files.
Step 2: For each image, upload it to the website and copy the URL of the image. (This method will differ based on the website platform.)
Step 3: Add the following HTML code to the sidebar, footer, or another place on the website. (Make sure to use an HTML or plain-text editor rather than a WYSIWYG or rich-text editor.)
<a href="https://www.bookbub.com/authors/your-author-profile?follow=true"><img src="your-image-URL.png" alt="Follow me on BookBub"></a>
Remember to change the following elements:
- href URL = the URL of your Author Profile or book page on BookBub
- img src URL = the URL of the image you copied in Step 2
- alt text = if necessary, change “Follow me on BookBub” to “Wishlist on BookBub” or whichever site this icon is linking to (e.g. “Follow me on Facebook”).
Note: Adding ?follow=true to the end of your public profile URL means users who are signed in to BookBub will automatically follow you. (For example: https://www.bookbub.com/authors/james-patterson?follow=true.) If the user is not signed in to BookBub, they will simply land on your Author Profile without automatically following you.
How to recolor icons to fit a website’s design
If none of the icon sets above fit the look and feel of the website you want to add these to, you can change the color of the “Black icons” set to any color you’d like.
Step 1: Click here to download the black icon set.
Step 2: Follow the instructions here: 6 easy ways to recolor icons.
