Looking to get the most out of an upcoming BookBub Featured Deal?
Here’s something to keep in mind: Authors who claim their BookBub Author Profile before running a Featured Deal typically accelerate their BookBub follower growth after the deal. That means that if you’re the author of a book with an upcoming promotion, you should be sure to claim your profile before the deal runs. (If you’re working with an author who has an upcoming promotion, encourage them to claim theirs!)
During a recent one-month sample window, authors who ran a Featured Deal after claiming their profile had a 50% higher median follower growth rate than authors who ran a Featured Deal without claiming their profile.
Featured Deals provide lots of value to authors and publishers — and they can provide even more if the author claims their profile prior to the promotion.
Why do authors who claim their profiles attract followers faster?
To help introduce BookBub readers to new authors, BookBub frequently suggests authors for readers to follow. When making these recommendations, the BookBub platform prioritizes authors who have claimed and completed their profile. Profiles that include an author photo, a bio, and verified book data usually provide a better experience for readers, and therefore make better suggestions.
Here’s an example of author recommendations in the Discover Authors section of BookBub.com:
And here’s an example of an author recommendation sent via email:
Author recommendations help all authors who claim their profiles; you don’t need to run a BookBub Featured Deal to benefit from them. However, Featured Deals give authors additional attention, increasing the rate at which new readers follow them. Authors who run a Featured Deal but don’t claim their profile miss out on this amplification and don’t attract new followers as quickly.
Why are BookBub followers valuable?
The more followers an author has on BookBub, the more books they will sell via BookBub.
Any time an author publishes a new book, BookBub sends a New Release Alert to all of that author’s followers. BookBub also sends alerts to authors’ followers when they run Featured Deals.
How do you know if authors you work with have claimed their profile?
If you’re an agent, publisher, or marketer working with authors, you may not know which of your authors have claimed their profile or are running Featured Deals.
It’s easy to get that information from your BookBub Partner Dashboard. Just log in to your dashboard (create an account here if you don’t already have one), click the My Authors link in the left navigation, then add the authors you work with.
As you add authors to the dashboard, you’ll be able to see whether they’ve claimed their profile or have an upcoming Featured Deal scheduled. If you find authors who have an upcoming Featured Deal but have not claimed their profile, you can invite them by clicking Invite below their names.
